CONTEST RULES
NEEDS SNACK BREAK CONTEST 2026
(the “Contest”)
The “Needs Snack Break Contest” (the "Contest") will be held at Needs Convenience Stores, each a “Participating Needs” and collectively the “Participating Needs Stores” and is sponsored by Sobeys Capital Incorporated, ("the Contest Sponsor") and is administered by WSP International Limited ("the Administrator"). The Contest Sponsor, the Participating Needs Stores and the Administrator are collectively referred to herein as “Contest Entities”. The Contest begins on May 14, 2026 at 12:00:01 AM Atlantic Time (“AT”), (the "Contest Start Date") and ends on July 8, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM AT (the "Contest End Date"). The period between the Contest Start Date and the Contest End Date is known as the "Contest Period."
1. Eligibility:
TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST, you must:
- Be a resident of New Brunswick (NB), Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Nova Scotia (NS) or Prince Edward Island (PE)
- Have reached the age of majority in your Province of residence at the time of Contest Start Date (18 years in PE; 19 years in NB, NL, and NS).
Be advised that certain Contest prizes are available only to registered Scene+ members with an existing Scene+ account in good standing, as more particularly detailed below
EXCLUSIONS:
The employees, agents and/or representatives of the Contest Sponsor, its affiliates, Participating Needs Stores, employees
of Contest Sponsor and Administrator, advertising and promotion agencies or any party involved in the administration of the Contest (the “Affiliated Parties”), as well as, respectively, any person with whom an excluded participant is domiciled with or any other member of their immediate family (each an “Excluded Participant”) are eligible to play and win the instant prizes only, they are not eligible to play and win the sweepstakes prizes, see Rule 6. For the purposes of the Contest Rules (the “Rules”), the term “immediate family” includes the father, mother, brother, sister, child, husband, wife, or common-law partner of an Excluded Participant.
For the sake of clarity, an eligible participant who is not an Excluded Participant is hereinafter referred to as a “Participant”. Each Participant must play/enter exclusively on their own behalf and act for their sole personal benefit.
2. General Contest Information
This Contest includes digital break-open game tickets (“Digital Tickets”) that may be opened on a computer, tablet, or smartphone using a mouse or finger, as applicable. To participate, visit www.NeedsWin.ca and, using an SMS-enabled device, request a one-time code (“OTC”) to create and authenticate your Contest account (“Contest Account”). Standard message and data rates may apply. On your first play, you will be required to complete an online registration form, which includes providing your first name, a valid email address, and choosing your Province of residence. You will also have the option to sign up to receive electronic communications from the Contest Sponsor. Limit of one (1) Contest Account per person. Any attempt to create multiple Contest Accounts by the same individual may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsor. Participants are responsible for ensuring they are authorized account
holders of the mobile number used to register.
See Rule 3 below for full details on how to earn Digital Tickets. Each Digital Ticket will contain three (3) break-open gameplay tabs (each, a “Break-Open Tab”). Follow the on-screen instructions to click or tap each Break-Open Tab to reveal your game messages which could include an Instant Win Prize or Sweepstakes entries. If you reveal an Instant Win Prize, see the section entitled “WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU REVEAL AN INSTANT WIN PRIZE” below for additional details. See Table 1 below for a complete list of available Instant Win Prizes, their approximate retail values (“ARVs”), and the odds of winning. A total of 52,610 Instant Win Prizes are available to be won during the Contest Period. If you reveal Sweepstakes entries, see Rule 5 below for additional details.

3. How To Receive Digital Tickets Without Purchase: No Purchase Required

- ENTER A BONUS CODE:
Throughout the Contest Period, Contest Sponsor will post Bonus Codes on their Needs social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and X (Formerly Twitter), and / or include Bonus Codes in emails, and SMS messages. Customers can enter Bonus Codes at www.NeedsWin.ca. You will receive one (1) Bonus Digital Ticket per Bonus Code entered. Bonus Codes can only be entered once. The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, or X.

- MAIL-IN ENTRY:
To participate in the Contest without making a purchase, you must send your Name, Mobile Phone Number, and Email Address clearly printed or typed on a 3” x 5” card or piece of paper to: “Needs Snack Break, No Purchase Request P.O. Box 3009 M.I.P., Markham, ON, L3R 6G4” (the “No Purchase Request”). All No Purchase Requests must be received no later than the last day of the Contest Period. Given the variability of the mail delivery schedule, the time of receipt for a No Purchase Request will be determined at the sole discretion of the Contest Administrator. Limit of five (5) No Purchase Request per Participant, per household per day of the Contest. You will receive a reply by email with a code to receive five (5) Digital Tickets.
4. How to Receive Digital Tickets with Purchase:

- UPLOAD A VALID RECEIPT VOUCHER
Throughout the Contest Period, customers that make a qualifying purchase at Participating Needs stores will receive a receipt voucher in addition to their cash register receipt. There are two types of receipt vouchers: Base Vouchers and Bonus Vouchers. Using your smart phone, simply snap a photo of your Base Voucher, go to www.NeedsWin.ca and follow the instructions to create a Contest Account, then upload the picture of your Receipt Voucher. You will receive one (1) Digital Ticket for each valid Base Voucher uploaded. Qualifying purchases: Purchases of tobacco products, gift cards, fluid dairy products in Atlantic regions, pharmacy, alcoholic beverages, fuel, and any other non-discountable products alone or together DO NOT qualify you to receive a Base Voucher.
When your purchase includes any advertised qualifying items (“qualifying items”) found in any Participating Needs store, you will receive a Bonus Voucher. Qualifying items are listed in Table 1, below. Qualifying items are specially marked in-store and may be advertised on social media, emails, and in advertising flyers. You will earn one (1) bonus Digital Ticket for every qualifying item purchased. Your Bonus Voucher will indicate the number of bonus Digital Tickets that you can receive as a result of your purchase of the qualifying items. There is a maximum of five (5) bonus Digital Tickets per receipt upload. Full instructions on how to register and upload Vouchers are provided online. There is a maximum of five (5) receipt voucher uploads per person per day.

All vouchers must be uploaded by July 15, 2026 at 11:59 pm AT. When you have completed a valid voucher upload, you will automatically earn one or more Digital Tickets, as described above. See Rule 5 below, for prize details.
5. How to Receive Sweepstakes Entries:
When you click or tap to reveal the Break-Open Tabs in your Digital Tickets, Break-Open Tabs may reveal two (2), five (5) or ten (10) entries into the Digital Sweepstakes for a chance to win one of the Grand Prize or Secondary Prize Sweepstakes prize drawings as described in Rule 6, below. Odds of receiving each denomination are included in Table 2, below

SWEEPSTAKES PRIZES
WEEKLY GRAND PRIZES
There will be eight (8) weekly Grand Prizes available to be won during the Contest Period (each, a “Grand Prize”) to award a total of eight (8) Grand Prizes as outlined in Table 4 below. Each Grand Prize will be awarded in the form of a cheque payable to the confirmed winner. The total retail value for all Weekly Grand Prizes is $47,500.00.

The Grand Prizes and Secondary Prize are collectively referred to as the “Sweepstakes Prize” or the “Sweepstakes Prizes”. For each prize, one (1) winner will be selected by electronic random draw from among all eligible entries received prior to the draw date. All non-winning entries will rollover into any eligible subsequent drawings. Drawings will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the dates set out in Table 4 and 5 at the Administrator’s offices located at 100 Allstate Parkway, Markham, Ontario L3R 6H3. OTHER PRIZE NOTES:
GENERAL INFORMATION. Prizes may differ from the photos and images used in advertising and promotional materials for the Contest, including print, website, and electronic banner advertising. Each Prize must be accepted (i) “AS AWARDED,” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, and (ii) may not be modified, transferred, assigned, or exchanged for cash (unless expressly authorized by the Contest Sponsor and Administrator at their sole discretion). The Prize will be awarded only to the individual whose name and information appears on the registration. In the event of a dispute as to who owns the mobile phone number the Contest Sponsor’s decision will be final. No substitution will be permitted, except at the discretion of the Contest Sponsor. Any difference between approximate retail value and the actual value of the Prizes as taken will not be awarded.
7. Contacting Potential Winners and Awarding of Prizes:
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU REVEAL AN INSTANT WIN PRODUCT PRIZE MESSAGE:
If you receive an Instant Win Prize message for a product prize, it will include a full description of the Instant Win Prize awarded and a corresponding digital prize coupon (the “Prize Coupon”). The Prize Coupon may be redeemed at a Participating Needs Store selected during registration. Prizes must be redeemed no later than the close of business on July 15, 2026 (the “Redemption Deadline”). There is a maximum of ten (10) Instant Win product prize redemptions at store per person per day. To facilitate redemption, the Prize Coupon may be accessed by logging into your Contest Account and navigating to the “My Prizes” section.
To redeem, present the Prize Coupon on a mobile device at a Participating Needs Store prior to the Redemption Deadline. Select the product specified on the Prize Coupon and present it at checkout. The cashier must scan the barcode or manually enter the applicable PLU code in order to validate the Prize Coupon. A three (3) minute timer applies once the redemption process has been initiated. The Prize Coupon will automatically void if not redeemed within three (3) minutes of activation. As a condition of prize redemption, the potential winner must correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question administered by the cashier. Proof of age must be provided upon request. Instant Win Prizes do not include applicable taxes, eco-fees, bottle deposits, or similar charges, which remain the sole responsibility of the winner, unless otherwise stated. Instant Win Prizes have no cash value and may not be substituted or exchanged for cash. All Instant Win Prizes must be redeemed prior to the Redemption Deadline. Not all Instant Win Prizes may be claimed or redeemed.
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU REVEAL AN INSTANT WIN SCENE+ POINTS PRIZE MESSAGE:
If you receive an Instant Win Prize message for a Scene+ Points prize, you will receive a unique redemption code on screen and your code will be available in the ‘My Prizes’ area of the Contest site at www.needswin.ca. To redeem, follow the redemption link and you will be instructed to log into your existing Scene+ account and enter your redemption code. Scene+ prizes are available only to registered Scene+ members in good standing at the time of redemption. Scene+ points can only be deposited into an existing Scene+ account. Scene+ membership numbers will not be collected through the Contest website. Scene+ redemption codes may be claimed one (1) time, by one (1) Scene+ member. Scene+ redemption codes expire on July 15, 2026. Scene+ redemption codes are non-transferable, non-saleable and not redeemable for cash. Scene+ redemption codes that are lost, stolen or used without permission will not be replaced. Additional restrictions apply, see redemption code for details.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE CHOSEN AS A WINNER FOR ANY SWEEPSTAKES PRIZE:
If you have been selected as a potential winner in any of the drawings described above, the Administrator will notify you via e-mail and/or phone. As a condition of awarding any prize, winner must have signed and returned, within seven (7) days of attempted notification, the Contest Entities Compliance, Release, and Indemnity Form (the "Release Form") under which, among other matters, winner confirms his/her compliance and eligibility with these Rules, completes, provides proof of identity, and releases and indemnifies the Contest Sponsor, Administrator and other certain parties.
The Grand Prizes will be shipped to or redeemed at a Participating Needs store closest to winner’s valid disclosed address by prepaid delivery, unless otherwise specified. Allow approximately four (4) to eight (8) weeks for shipment of prizes to Participating Stores following verification. If the prize is required to be shipped to any Participating Store, upon receipt of the prize, the appropriate Participating Store will contact you by telephone and/or mail to make arrangements for you to pick the prize up at the Participating Store. A minimum of three (3) attempts will be made to contact the winner to arrange for the pickup of the prize. Prizes that are not claimed within thirty (30) days of the third attempt to contact, will be deemed forfeited. For the Secondary Prize, Scene+ Points prizes will be automatically loaded to the OFFICIAL RULES VERSION: MAY 7, 2026 Page 6 winners' existing Scene+ account within two (2) to four (4) weeks after completing the Release Form. The Secondary Prize is available only to registered Scene+ members in good standing at the time of redemption.
All prize claims are subject to verification and eligibility by the Contest Sponsor, Administrator or authorized personnel at the Participating Store at which the prize claim is presented and surrendered for redemption. All prizes will be shipped to or redeemed at the Participating Store closest to winner’s valid disclosed address by prepaid delivery, unless otherwise specified. Allow approximately four (4) to eight (8) weeks for shipment of prizes to Participating Stores following verification.
Prizes may not be transferred or assigned except as provided herein. No prize substitutions are allowed, except as provided herein. Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute an advertised prize (or portion thereof) with a prize of equal or greater value for reasons that may include but are not limited to: unavailability; production delays caused by labor disruptions’ failure or interruption of computer, internet or telecommunications networks; adverse weather conditions; or other unforeseen events.
Each Participant is responsible for ensuring that their information is correct. The Contest Sponsor and Administrator cannot be held liable for invalid or inaccurate telephone numbers or other contact details. Each selected Participant will be contacted by email, SMS communication or voice communication; the potential winner will receive and complete the Release Form and must provide photo identification and proof of identity and return it to the Administrator. As noted above, as a condition of awarding the prize, the winner must have signed and returned the Release Form, within seven (7) days of receipt, failing which they will be disqualified. Response time will be determined solely by the Administrator’s clock.
BEFORE BEING CONFIRMED AS A PRIZE WINNER, the potential winner must:
- Correctly answer, unaided, a mathematical skill-testing question;
- Duly complete and sign the Prize Release Form, and return the Release Form within seven (7) days of receipt of the aforementioned Form, in accordance with the instructions provided by the Administrator;
- Consent to their name, address, voice, image, statements in connection with the Contest, and any photograph, video, audio and/or video recording, being published, reproduced or otherwise used by or on behalf of the Contest Sponsor for publicity purposes or other promotional or commercial use by or on behalf of the Contest Sponsor, in any media, future or existing, including print, broadcast, television and the Internet, without further notice, additional compensation or right of inspection;
- Provide photo identification upon request.
- For the Secondary Sweepstakes prize, provide their registered Scene+ member number for verification.
If a potential winner refuses or fails to timely return the required documents with proof of identity, in accordance with these Official Rules, or is found to have violated the Official Rules of the Contest in any way, or is deemed ineligible to receive a prize for any reason, or if any prize or prize notification from Contest Sponsor or Administrator is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and will be deemed to have forfeited the prize in question. For all prizes except the Grand Prizes, Administrator will hold a maximum of three (3) re-draws to attempt to select an alternate prize winner from among the pool of eligible entries received. A minimum of three (3) attempts will be made to contact each alternate potential winner to arrange for pickup of the prize. Prizes that are not claimed within thirty (30) days of the third attempt to contact, will be deemed forfeited and such forfeited prizes will not be awarded. For the Grand Prizes, alternate potential winners will be contacted until the prize is duly awarded.
8. Odds of Winning:
Odds of receiving any individual Instant Prize are detailed in Rule 6, Table 3 above. For the Grand Prize Draws and the Secondary Prize Draw, the odds of winning depend on the number of entries received prior to each drawing during the Contest Period.
9. Terms And Conditions:
The Contest is governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and the laws of Canada applicable therein, and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law. Participation constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to these Contest Rules and the decisions of the Contest Entities, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. By entering the Contest, you agree that the courts of Nova Scotia, Canada shall have jurisdiction to entertain any action or other legal proceedings based on any provision of this Contest’s Rules or the running of this Contest. By entering this Contest, you agree to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Rules. ANYONE FOUND TO HAVE VIOLATED THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON MAY BE SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION AT THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE CONTEST SPONSOR AT ANY TIME. Any attempt made by a Participant or other individual or entity to deliberately damage, manipulate or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest, including but not limited to any fraudulent claims, is a violation of the law. The Administrator and Contest Sponsor reserve the right to seek remedies and damages from any such individual or entity which makes any such attempt. Any entrant who, in the opinion of the Administrator, is determined to be engaging in any of the foregoing activities will be immediately disqualified from the Contest.
By participating in the Contest, you agree to release and hold harmless the Contest Sponsor, Affiliated Parties (including, without limitation, Scene LP) and each of their respective direct and indirect parent companies, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, brokers, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”) for i) your participation in the Contest; ii) any failure of a website during the Contest, iii) any problem or technical failure related to telephone lines or networks, online computer systems, servers, access providers, or computer equipment or software; iv) any fraudulent call; v) any delay or inability to act as a result of any event or situation OFFICIAL RULES VERSION: MAY 7, 2026 Page 7 beyond the control of the Releasees including, but not limited to, a strike, lock-out or any other labour dispute, vi) any Entry not received for any reason, including due to technical problems or an Internet network or website overload, vii) any damage to the computer or any other device belonging to the Participant or to a third party as a result of participation in the Contest; viii) the awarding, use or misuse of any Prize or portion thereof, ix) any Prize lost or damaged during transport and shipping, x) any situation that may limit or prevent any person from reading the entry rules and xi) any combination of the foregoing.
Furthermore, by participating in this Contest and as a condition of acceptance of a Prize, the winner, if applicable, releases the Releasees from any liability, obligation, claim, suit, charge or any other claim for damages, regardless of cause, arising from or related to participation in the Contest or acceptance or use of a Prize, including, but not limited to, and subject to any limits required by law, in the event of injury, death, damage or loss of property. Upon acceptance of the Prize, the obligations relating to it are the responsibility of the service providers and the Releasees are fully released from all liability.
The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw, amend or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bug, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website, forge or tamper with Receipt Vouchers, uploads or Bonus Codes, or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest (at the Contest Sponsor’s sole discretion) is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to lock or remove the Participant’s Contest Account and to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Contest Sponsor or Administrator reserves the right to request original Receipt Vouchers. The Contest Sponsor, reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules in any way, in the event of any accident, printing error, administrative error or other error of any kind, or for any other reason, without prior notice or obligation. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to administer another proficiency test, as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law.
The Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to change, without notice, the Contest deadline or any of the dates set out in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying the compliance of any Participant or Entry in accordance with these Rules, or due to technical problems or under any circumstances that, in the view of the Contest Sponsor and at its sole discretion, may affect the proper administration of the Contest in accordance with these Rules, or for any other reason.
By entering this Contest, each Participant consents to each of the Contest Sponsor, Scene LP, and their respective agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing, and using the personal information submitted with their Entry through the information contained in the Entry Form, and, where applicable, associated with their Scene+ account, for the sole purpose of administering the Contest and awarding the Prize, including, but not limited to, contacting the Participant about the Contest and their Entry. Participants may also receive additional communications from the Contest Sponsor, Scene LP and/or third-party partners (if applicable) about their products, services, upcoming contests, and promotional offers if you consent to receive such communications on the Contest Website. Participants may, at any time during or after the Contest, withdraw their consent to receive additional communications by following the unsubscribe instructions included in these communications. These contest rules can be found at www.NeedsWin.ca or at the service counter of a Participating Needs. The names of the contest winners will be available at support@NeedsWin.ca after July 15, 2026, for a minimum period of three (3) months. In the event of a discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of the French version of these Rules and any disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including the Entry Form, the Website, the English version of these Rules and/or television, print or online advertising at the point of sale, the terms and conditions of the English version of these Rules will prevail to the fullest extent permitted by law.
